WHAT IS HAPPENING · SUMMARY OF ECDC COMMUNICABLE DISEASE THREATS REPORT
Mpox clade Ib continues to circulate globally. Since September 2025, clade Ib MPXV has been confirmed in individuals with no recent travel across four WHO regions, primarily among men who have sex with men. The second PHEIC for mpox was lifted on 5 September 2025 though WHO continues emergency preparedness activities.
